Ghost (type)

Ghosts are exceptional Pokémon, being a single type with two immunities. Their number has increased in later games, and they are now the third most common after ice and fairy.

In Gen I, Illusion did not work on Psychic Pokémon, but this was later changed and they became super powerful. When paired with Dark types, they were the only type composition without a specific space until Fairy was introduced in Gen VI.

In Gen I to Gen III, all methods of Ghost-like Pokémon were classified as physiological.

Effects of the Ghost type

• Ghost's likeness Pokémon cannot be prevented from passing by (such as with Toxic or Shadow Marker support) or fleeing from battle.
• The moves Foresight and Scent Guard, as well as Scrappy's magic power, allow Ghost's likeness Pokémon to defeat normal and fighting types.
• Trick/Treat Trick/Treat adds a ghost image to the target.
• "Curse" halves the HP of Ghost-like Pokémon and puts a curse on them.₄It loses HP.
• Marowak's ability increases the Pokémon's speed by 1 degree when attacking Ghost-like Pokémon.
• Pokémon with "Salt Cleansing" ability take 50% less damage when attacking Ghost-like Pokémon.
• Spooky Plate and Spell Tag items increase the power of Ghost-like Pokémon's moves by 20% when held.
• Holding a Ghost Gem and then eating it increases the power of Ghost-like Pokémon's attacks by 30%.
• Holding a Cassibu Berry nullifies the super powerful moves of Ghost-like Pokémon.
• Grise Out increases the attack power of Heart-like Pokémon by 20% when held by ◯◯.
