Nanoleaf s new hexagon Shapes are the company s best light panels yet
Nanoleaf’s new hexagon ‘Shapes’ are the company’s best light panels yet
Shapes meaningfully improve on the execution of Nanoleaf's light panels with a hint of more to come
25 July 2020 14:32 EDT 0 CommentsToronto-based Nanoleaf has expanded its lineup of smart lighting solutions with some fun new shapes.
You can now choose from three shapes: triangles, squares, and hexagons -- what Nanoleaf calls "Shapes Hexagons." Shapes share the same basic functionality as their square "Canvas" light panels, but I felt Shapes was the ultimate embodiment of Nanoleaf's vision.
Nanoleaf provided me with a sample of the "Shapes" hexagonal shape after I spent some time with the company's older "Canvas" and triangular "light panels." Read more here. I found Canvas to offer some interesting options for creating unique lighting schemes beyond the triangular light panels, but Shapes felt even more flexible.
But what stands out most about Shapes isn't the hexagonal panels, but the small improvements to the overall design. All three models offer over 16 million colors, 25. 000 hours of operation and 100 lumens of visible light (except for Canvas, which has a maximum of 44 lumens).
From a technical point of view, Shapes is not very different from other products.
Little improvements make a world of difference.
Firstly, Nanoleaf has redesigned the connection mechanism of the mold. Both the Canvas and Light Panels used small pieces of plastic with metal contacts to connect the panels together.
These connectors worked and had the advantage of being very simple, but they were not very reliable. They also made mounting on the wall a bit difficult, since the connectors did not hold the panels in place.
But Shapes offers a new connector that can be firmly attached to the panel. Thanks to this clip, the panel is more firmly attached and easier to mount on the wall.
Nanoleaf Canvas Connector vs. Shapes New Connector
Interestingly, according to Nanoleaf's website, Shapes uses a technology that the company calls "Connect+". Based on the company's description, we can expect to see new shapes appear under the "Shapes" brand. Additionally, these new shapes work together with the new Hexagon Shapes via the Connect+ system.
Ultimately, this can set something different and create more attractive panels. In real time, canvas panels can only bind to other canvas panels, and light panels can only bind to other light panels. On the other hand, the shape actually functions only with other hexagonal shapes, but the nan o-leaf also functions with other shapes with a hexagonal.
Better mounting tools
Another possible addition to improve the holder is a new removable plastic substrate. The light panel and the nan o-leaf canvas were pasted on a special sticky overlay for pasting the panel on the wall. The process was somewhat disappointing, and it was necessary to plan to do everything well.
In the hexagon, the process was improved because there is a plastic mounting board on the back of the panel. In the case of hexagonal, the element of the overlay had to be removed and the pavement had to be attached to the wall in an appropriate space. After that, the shape of the mounting plate was carefully pulled and softly, and the marker was supported by peeling off the sticky overlay by peeling off the sticky overlay.
It is worth noting that the panel must be moved in the future, except for experiments using a new support board, so it is worth noting that the wall will not be reinforced on the wall.
Controller with the best of both worlds
Another improvement point, which is a hexagonal nan o-leaf, is a fresh "controller." This figure is a controller combined with the good points of light panels and canvas, and is a central hub for connecting and removing panels, adjusting brightness and other options.
Light panels used to provide controllers, but users need to attach them to any panel. The controller is equipped with a connection button, lighting mode and brightness mode switching button, and Wi-Fi status indicator. Apart from this, the controller is connected to the wall and functions as a panel.
In addition, since there is a power cable, it is necessary to consider the location of the installation in order to check whether it can actually reach the button.
Nano Ref canvas controller
The canvas tried to solve this case by making one panel a controller. The canvas sold this controller because it was possible to put the leading paved in any place, so the table was turned on in any room in the chain. You don't have to spend time on unnecessary details.
The only drawback of the canvas technique was that the first paved sense button was actually a certain number on the front, depending on the position of the panel.
Shapes have reduced these two systems by supporting another controller that is not connected to the power cable. Apart from this, the shape controller contains a certain number of senses buttons in contrast to the three light panels.
Shapes are the first step in a future plan
As a whole, hexagonal suggests a step forward of Nano Ref. Shapes are dangerous in the nan o-leaf method, but brings small improvements, and their quality and implementation are much better than any other method.
Furthermore, the shape forms a fresh and exchanged panel type foundation. Ultimately, this means that customers can actually add a collection of nan o-leaf panels instead of replacing them when a new kit comes out.
At the time of writing this article, there is no information about the price because the Nano Ref website is not officially sold (the company has already provided information about prices). Applicants can participate in Nanoleaf-Expections List and know the details when the form hexagon is resold.
Updated 29/07/2020 9: 53: Nanoleaf has approved the cost of foam hexagon to MobileSyrup:
- Hexagon starter kit (7 panels): $ 224, 99
- Hexagon Bundle I (13 panels): $ 331, 47
- Hexagon Bundle II (19 panels): $ 423, 96
This is considered to be very expensive, but compared to other Nanryef-optical panels, the shape hexagonal is actually almost the same or more low-paved price depending on the package you compare. I have.

The 2024 Moto G Stylus is a $400 mid-ranger with vegan leather
The phone ships May 30, but Motorola's weak update plan might give you pause.

Moto G style 2024. The back part of Beganskin. The stylus is at the bottom. There is also a headphone terminal. Genuine product. This is pretty scarlet.Moto G style 5g 2024, the latest smartphone of Motorola. Merchants have no chance to sample this mobile phone or Galaxy S Ultra line, but can get a stylus mobile phone for $ 400.
Thanks to Veganskin's back panel (this is a type of plastic), the design is a bit exciting and gives the mobile phone original. It has a duralumin flat side, even a uniform screen, and a video camera with a hole. Android requires a large number of integrated stylus to rely on what Motorola depends on. On the website, you can only find the opportunity to send photos via the Motonote-Application, Message, and directly, and you can find everything in the playstore.
This is a mid-range phone, with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 used as SOC. The presence of a 6, 7-inch OLED display with a frequency of 120 Hz and a resolution of 2400x1080, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of storage and a 5000 mAh battery with 30W wired and wireless 15W. Photos are taken at 50 megapixels on the front cell, 13 megapixels wide angle or front 32 megapixels. There is a microSD connector, a headphone jack, a fingerprint screen scanner, a stylus (of course) and NFC. Wi-Fi is only 802. 11ac. This is "Wi-Fi 5", a rather archaic option, but I believe it will overcome the challenges. The dust and moisture resistance class "IP52" is not very high, it only promises protection against water drops from certain angles. As always, Motorola's project of updating the software remains the best. You will receive one substantial operating system update from Android 14 to 15. Security protection will be dragged to 3 years later in 2 months.
Most importantly, Motorola is still considered an operator and these outlets such as Best Buy and Walmart. Of course, it will still be presented at Amazon and Motorola. The exceptionally premature date for the offer of the unlocked model is May 30th and indicates that for Motorola-operators "Metro T-Mobile, AT& T, Cricket, Boost Infinite, Boost Mobile, Consumer Cellular, Spectrum, Xfinity, Google FI Wireless and Optimum Mobile as well as Total by Upright, Verizon and Visible".
