(Image source: Intel)The first laptop with the new Intel Lunarake processor has already been released, and we have tested a few of them in the lab.
LUNAR LAKE's test results have been significantly interested in Intel's laptop chip production business for several years. AMD, a lon g-standing rival, is still in a serious competition, but Intel Chips began to provide Apple's first and later a SOC (System O n-chip). I began to lose the shine for laptops.
Intel Chips had been delayed by competitors before laptop manufacturers were involved in artificial intelligence that made up the hig h-tech industry. From Apple to Microsoft and Samsung, Intel has been forced to catch up with artificial intelligence applications and functions as the next largest to revolutionize technology.
There are good news. Intel seems to be doing his best to move quickly in this direction. At the end of last year, a large event was held and Intel Meteor Lake was announced. The company's first NPU (neuro processor) laptop chips for the first wave of the "Artificial Intelligence Laptop PC" will make new features such as generating images, textbooks, and strengthening web cameras. It was what indicated. .
However, when we tested Intel Meteor Lake in a performance set, the result was delayed to the highest chips for Apple and Qualcom's laptops. Now we have the opportunity to test the first Lunar Lake chip, the successor, and the results were better than we saw before.
The first test showed that the laptop equipped with an Intel Lunar Lake processor would greatly improve performance and battery life compared to the old Lunar Lake laptop. However, the Lunar Lake chips we test are not yet the best models that Apple and Quarcom are in the market.

As a result, let's get behind the numbers and see what kind of situation is in the most fresh Intel development!
Performance tests

We had the opportunity to test ASUS and Dell laptops, equipped with the first Intel Lunarek Chip, classified as Intel Ultra 200V at the technical level. Currently, all Lunar Lake laptop we have tested, which is equipped with Intel Core Ultra 7 258V chips, for example, these tests are laptops with this single part of silicon. To include only. I can't wait to get more laptops toward the right moon and have more absolute ideas for how to get all Lunar Lak e-gene operating perfectly.
I had the opportunity to test a laptop with AMD's latest micro processor Ryzen 9 AI. This silicon is still equipped with NPU, satisfies the claim for PC Copilot +. ASUS ZenBook S 16 and ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 Laptops are equipped with AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 tra 14 is a slightly larger AMD RYZEN AI 9 HX 375.
In the following data, you can see the results of our team that tested a laptop computer equipped with AMD, Apple, and the latest chips of Intel this time. LUNAR LAK E-I emphasize the results I bought in fat and cars, but I can see the prefix and accept each chip.
Raw CPU performance disappoints
The first huge analysis includes Geekbench 6, cros s-platform benchmarks through a single core and mult i-core test, which can help you see the performance of the microcessesa, and compare them with other computers. Give the result.

(M3 Pro) MacBook Pro 14 inch | 3154 | 14357 |
(M3 MAX) MacBook Pro 16 inches | 3200 | 21711 |
As you can see from the results above, all Lunar Lake laptops that test the performance of single core and mult i-core are slightly inferior to the latest laptops equipped with AMD and Apple chips.
The laptop tested on Snapdragon has a larger bias. The LUNAR LAKE chip is beaten by Snapdragon X Plus in singl e-core performance, but has not lost in mult i-core. Quarcom's Snapdragon X Elite chip, which is more productive, has a better performance in both cases, and the Lunar Lake chip we test has improved from its predecessor, Meteo r-More, but in the market. It suggests that the best laptop chips cannot be compared.
But Lunar Lake smokes our AI tests
Next, let's talk about the implementation of AI. We have been updating the tests, taking into account new laptops focusing on AI, and recently started using a new Geekbench AI 1. 0 test.
Lunar Lake's new chips showed a much higher result in the Geekbench AI NPU test than any other laptop of Snapdragon X and Apple M3.
In this test, it is possible to determine how much the tip can process the data processing required for most "artificial intelligence" applications and functions. This test can be implemented in various ways in various parts of the laptop processor. Also, since the architecture differs depending on the chip, a specific version of this test may be blocked.
To put it simply, there aren't many comparative results from this test, but the results we have are focusing on these chips NPU performance. The graph below is two indicators of accuracy and quantification. The difference is complicated, but in short, the quantification tests use integers, not floating points, but more simpler, so the results are higher.

(Intel) DELL XPS 13 | 18387 | 25562 |
(Intel) ASUS ZENBOOK S14 | 18619 | 25356 |
Surprisingly, these new chips Lunar Lake's NPU showed a much higher result in the Geekbench AI 1. 0 NPU test we tested Snapdragon X and Apple M3 laptops.
This is a new area for us and the laptop industry, so we don't want to talk about what this means for the performance that should be expected in the Lunar Lake laptop. However, if high performance is important when using applications and functions with artificial intelligence components, the latest Intel processor should be too fast enough to your needs.
Content creation is no sweat
Now, let's take a quick look at how the Luna Lake laptops we tested stack up against the competition in terms of content creation.
The Pugetbench test measures how effectively a machine runs on Adobe applications such as Photoshop and Premiere Pro. Pugetbench does its magic and sets a rating after each test.
The Premiere Pro test in Pugetbench is not yet highly optimized for Qualcomm's Snapdragon processors, so we haven't run these tests on some of the laptops featured below yet.

(Snapdragon X Plus) Dell Inspiron 14 Plus | 6331 | N/A |
(Intel) DELL XPS 13 | 6702 | 2816 |

(Intel) ASUS ZENBOOK S14 | 6897 | 2649 |
(Snap Dragon X Elite) Del XPS 13 | 6150 | N/A |

(M3) MacBook Air 15 inch | 8533 | 3783 |
(M3) MacBook Pro 14 inch | 8650 | 4280 |
We can see that the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V chip in the Lunar Lake laptops we tested is very capable with Adobe applications, showing better Photoshop results than any Snapdragon X laptop we've tested so far. However, when it comes to the Pugetbench results for Photoshop and Premiere Pro, laptops with the latest AMD and Apple processors outperform these Lunar Lake machines.
So, Lunar Lake laptops are not underdogs in this field, but they are not surprising at first glance.

Gaming tests
Intel is not in the mood to advertise that its first Lunar Lake chips for laptops are good at gaming, but we still want to give you a general assessment of how they performed in our gaming tests.
All the laptops we review are checked with the Civilization graphics benchmark for the game Sid Meier: Storm Gathering. For the gaming laptops and a few others, we also started benchmarking more demanding computer games, checking as much as we could with the first Lunar Lake laptops.

Here we see again that, in fact, the first Luna Lake laptop overtakes the Snapdragon X laptop with Windows. A similar inconsistency can be seen with Apple's Arm-based MacBooks, but the company has had more time and more work to help game creators, so almost all modern games run on the advanced MacBook without the task.

Battery life
Finally, let's look at autonomous task timing and how well the Lunar Lake laptops performed in our tests. In our lab, we had one of the laptops under consideration do endless Wi-Fi surfing with the screen set to a brightness of 150 threads. This isn't the highest brightness, but it's ideal, allowing us to judge laptops from different manufacturers with different components.

(M3 MAX) MacBook Pro 16 inches | The results are clear: Lunar Lake is more energy-efficient than its predecessor, Meteor Lake, but still lacks the ability to outperform the best autonomous laptops with Apple or Qualcomm microprocessors. |
This is pretty close: Lunar Lake laptops are tested at that point in time stepping on the heels of Apple's long-running 16-inch MacBook Pro. And see how the AMD-based laptops we tested are currently considered less power-efficient than all the ones we compared them to.
Of course, we tested AMD-based laptops years ago, including not long ago.
And this is worth keeping in mind when reaching 2024. The lowest energy efficiency of these Windows laptops is much better than those that could be obtained in 2021 or 2022.
Lunar Lake outlook
In other words, it is clear that the first LUNAR LAKE Ultra Potable computer on the market does not change your ideas for your laptop, but generally shows excellent results.
The initial test of the laptop with the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V Lunar Lake indicated that the processor performance could not overtake Apple and Qualcom's highest chips, but it was excellent in the Geekbench AI test with the buil t-in NPU. The performance was shown.
This is a good sign for future PC-capilot+, but since we are still in the early stage of the life cycle, we can't say how much these high indicators will affect everyday use.
Surely, Lunar Lak e-Laptops is suitable for games (components like GPUs and RAM are more important), suitable for working from batteries, and working time is the most durable in the market. It is comparable to the laptop.
In this case, the AI function often uses both the CPU and the GPU, so it is difficult to talk about clear victory, but the NPU focus version of the Geekbench AI test is also higher than other companies. From the 1: 1 result using the buil t-in NPU, it is not possible to fully understand how much AI tasks can process AI tasks.
Personally, I can't wait to see more laptops in late 2024, which have a wide range of Lunar Lake, to see how the latest rounds of Silicon Intel will demonstrate. Chase the news
Apple may announce the M4 Mac in November.
